On a cultural holiday in South Tyrol

Between pizza and apple strudel – a cultural holiday in South Tyrol

On a cultural holiday in South Tyrol you can experience different traditional South Tyrolean customs combined with typical mediterranean lifestyles up close. For example, the Italian aperitif in the late afternoon, a refreshing Aperol Spritz or Hugo, is just as much part and parcel of South Tyrol and its people as eWißwurst sausages and a wheat beer in the late morning.

Anyone coming to South Tyrol on a cultural holiday in the early summer should definitely not miss the sacred heart fire. The sacred heart fire is a custom in South Tyrol that dates back to 1796, and is still cherished all over tyrol today. This tradition of lighting a mountain fire in June, goes back to the former midsummer celebration, which was then reinterpreted in memory of the sacred heart vow of 1796. The fire is lit on the South Tyrolean mountains every year on the third sunday after whitsun.
