As part of the Merano Winefestival that is held every year we were issued with a special award: the “premio godio” for the best restaurant of the year! The “premio godio” is in honour of the Michelin starred Chef Giancarlo Godio from the Piemont region, who boosted the reputation of alpine cuisine in the 1980s and 1990s with creative approaches making it respectable with his restaurant in Val d’Ultimo/Ultental in South Tyrol. This ruby red wine with a fragrance of violets and blackberries is full-bodied and rich in flavour and therefore goes superbly with game, roasts and hard cheeses.

Golden yellow, pleasantly dry and spicy – this white wine goes best with fish dishes, goose liver and dishes with an oriental touch. It is also superb as a dessert and aperitif wine.

This light red wine complements typical south tyrolean delicacies such as bacon and sausages and also mild cheese perfectly. It has a pleasantly mild and fruity flavour and is a lovely bright bordeaux red.
